Learn a very easy way to make Cannabis Infused Cocoa Butter For making chocolate, lotions, ointments and more.

Grind and Decarboxylate cannabis in oven preheated at 250° F for 25 minutes
Melt cocoa butter in top of a double boiler. Combine cannabis and lecithin into oil.
Infused uncovered for 1 - 2 hours.
Strain cannabis infused oil through cheesecloth or fine mesh screen filter to remove the plant material.
Let cool in refrigerator, chop and store until needed or use as is for a moisturizer.

Do I have the heat on for the 1-2 hours I am infusing?
Curious, why lid off? Left mine on(crockpot) and wondering if it’s ok. Also, left on high by accident, did I kill all THC?

I would imagine it’s to prevent condensation from the lid dripping into the butter
If the marijuana goes over 250°f then it’s starts to deactivate the THC rendering it a lot less potent or sometimes useless. I use an electric thermometer with a temp alert setting, and set it at 215°f plus I have a candy thermometer clipped on too and compare the two (that might be overkill, but my recipes come out potent so..)

Hi Keith. According to the above article, cacao butter loses some of its beneficial qualities when heated above 42°C. I want to make chocolate with infused cacao butter and don’t want to lose benefits of butter.

It’s only the weed you have to heat to decarboxylation… the cocoa butter can be melted at 35C, it doesn’t have to go any hotter. Also… if you add the weed during the tempering process it’s… really no different.
If you use a mason jar in a pot of boiling water, with a silicone mat to keep it from the direct heat on the bottom of the pot, It doesn’t go over 100 deg C.

I have a question so.e ppl say to cook it for 4 to 5 hrs is the a difference between 2 hrs or 5 hrs
Low and slow is the way to go here. Your potency will be dependent on the quality of the flower used (higher thc strains the better otherwise use bulk flower of lower thc strains), with that said the longer the extraction time the more you can pull thc of the flower and infuse it into your medium.
Until full saturation… I usually do two extractions on the same batch of bud. There’s so many crystals wasted if you don’t. Think about that first science experiment in high school, saturating water with sugar or salt till no more dissolve… exactly the same here. Add half the amount of butter the second round. It’s worth it 😊
I actually do the infusion for 2 hours, then when i filter out the greens, I save them and make brownies since there is still some potency there

What does the soy lecithin do to the mix?
Lecithin increases the bioavailability (i.e. helps you absorb faster/better) of THC and also emulsifies the oil and water in edibles to distribute the THC more evenly. Basically gets you more bong for your buck.
How would we know potency
Tried making infused cocoanut oil before didn’t decarb the flower and found no joy in the end product. Starting my second batch with your instructions, thx
